Sunspots - Leo Enright

Walter's Notes: At 17:30 the north sky had a red glow, and by 18:00 (at Trenton) it was obviously an aurora, with a huge column of red going from the NW horizon to the zenith. There was activity in all parts of the sky. I stopped again at 401 & Shannonville Road and the entire sky was quite firmly awash with bright aurora so I decided to go to the meeting instead of north to the farm to observe! Leo gave an interesting talk on sunspots. Someone suggested the Centre hold a computer night sometime. I endorsed the idea, pointing out that after such a meeting we could all go out for a byte! In other news, all indications are that Terry Hicks may be appointed National Treasurer of the RASC. After our post-meeting gathering at Harvey's I went to the farm where the aurora raged all over the sky for the entire night!
